Question 1

Why shouldn’t I wait for a “natural death?”

Accepted Answer

Many disorders and diseases can lead to a painful and traumatic natural death with symptoms like breathing difficulty, seizures, heart failure, or internal bleeding. Choosing euthanasia can spare your pet prolonged suffering.

Question 2

How can I make my pet more comfortable?

Accepted Answer

During hospice or palliative care, our skilled doctors assess your pet’s needs and recommend environmental, medical, or integrative solutions to ensure comfort. Contact us to explore options.

Question 3

How will I know when it’s the right time to say goodbye?

Accepted Answer

Use our quality of life scale to track your pet’s good and bad days. If challenging days become prevalent, it may signal a decline in quality of life. We’re here to help guide your decision.

Question 4

How far in advance should I schedule an appointment?

Accepted Answer

Our schedule is fluid and can change hour to hour. Ideally, request or call with 24–48 hours’ notice. We strive to see your loved one as soon as possible, though same-day appointments can’t be guaranteed.

Question 5

Do I need to prepare anything in my home prior to the doctor’s arrival?

Accepted Answer

Nothing is required. Our doctors are prepared for many situations. You may choose to consider your pet’s favorite place, foods, or activities—like walks, car rides, or cuddling—to make their day special.

Question 6

Who can be present during the visit?

Accepted Answer

Families are encouraged to be present, including other pets. If extra pets are temporarily separated, our doctors offer them the opportunity to experience your loved one’s scent or presence after passing.

Question 7

How long does the process take?

Accepted Answer

At your preferred pace, the process can be as quick as 15 minutes, but our doctors respect family cues. Ample time is provided, while being mindful of other appointments.

Question 8

Are you able to euthanize an aggressive pet?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our care coordinator will gather details and connect you with a doctor experienced in difficult situations. We’ll plan together for the safest possible care.

Question 9

What if my pet has bitten another pet or person?

Accepted Answer

If your pet has bitten someone or another animal, we follow state guidelines—such as quarantine or rabies testing. Contact us, and we’ll guide you through the next steps safely and compassionately.

Question 10

What are some ways to honor my loved one?

Accepted Answer

You can share pictures and memories on our memorial platform. Other ideas include planting a tree, installing a statue, creating a shadow box, donating to a favorite charity, or traveling with their ashes.

Question 11

How do I get support after losing my family member?

Accepted Answer

We offer pet loss support and grief counseling. You’re not alone—reach out when you’re ready. If you're experiencing intrusive or self-harming thoughts, contact a professional or the 988 hotline.

Question 12

What is the difference between Traditional Cremation vs. Aquamation?

Accepted Answer

Traditional cremation uses fire to reduce the pet to ashes. Aquamation uses an alkaline solution and may produce finer ashes—potentially up to 20% more than traditional cremation.

Question 13

What is the difference between Private & Communal Cremation/Aquamation?

Accepted Answer

Private cremation ensures only your pet’s ashes are returned in a dedicated chamber. Communal cremation involves multiple pets and their ashes are respectfully scattered on private property—not returned.
